WE CONDEMN PRESIDENT BIDEN FOR SUPPORTING MURDEROUS NETANYAHU
The South African Federation of Trade Unions (SAFTU) welcomes the application by the Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) to have the main two culprits (of the dozens of main culprits) of the Genocide in Palestine arrested.
The Chief Prosecutor at ICC has applied for the warrants of arrest against Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, and the Israeli Defence Minister, Yoav Gallant. These are the chief executioners of the genocidal campaign carried out against the Palestinian people in Gaza recently, which is part of the ethnic cleansing that has been upheld by every Zionist leader and continued unabated for more than 76 years now.
Hypocritically, Prime Minister Netanyahu likened the Chief Prosecutor of the ICC, Karim Khan, to the “judges in Nazi Germany who denied Jews basic rights and enabled the Holocaust”. On the contrary, Karim Khan’s efforts in issuing the arrest warrants are about preventing another Holocaust by stopping the genocidal Netanyahu and the Zionist fanatics that follow, aid, and abed him. Karim should be likened to the prosecutors who tried the holocaust criminals at the Nuremberg Trials from 1945 onwards, whilst Netanyahu should be likened to the Nazi fanatics, including Hitler himself. Netanyahu thinks his misuse of the holocaust can scare us and the citizens of the world. The Jewish Holocaust remains one of the recent tragedies of human history, and we sympathize, but no genocidal criminal or Zionist racist like Netanyahu will use it to blackmail the world into silence.
Similarly, accusing those who are critical of the Israeli racist regime and who recognise Israel as a settler colonial state as antisemitic has lost salt. Many citizens and activists of the world refuse to be blackmailed into silence by this accusation.
Warrants For Hamas Leaders?
Disappointingly, Chief Prosecutor Karim made similar applications (arrest warrants) for the leaders of Hamas, Yahya Sinwar, Mohamed Diab Ibrahim al-Masri and Ismail Haniyeh. He is charging them for the attacks of October 7th.
This posture is problematic as it equates the executioners of a genocide and those who resist by means of armed struggle. It equates the oppressor and the oppressed, and puts their offences in the same pedestal. Unintentionally, it strips the Palestinian people their right and duty to resist by means of armed struggle. In other words, ‘Palestinians must fold their arms, and accept colonial dispossession and oppression.’ ‘They should respond with mass protests, and even when they are drowned in blood during those protests, they must not lift a finger for it may be amount to human rights violation and warrant arrests.’ That is the implication.
SAFTU affirms the right of Palestinians to resist the Israeli colonial dispossession and racist oppression by any means including armed struggle.
Condemn the Genocidal Joe
SAFTU is equally appalled by the US President, Joe Biden, who repudiated the ICC arrest warrant applications. By repudiating the warrant of arrest against Netanyahu and Gallant, President Biden not only affirm his support for the genocidal campaign against the Palestinians but has demonstrated yet again that USA is the number one hypocrite when it comes to international rules and regulations. Whilst preaching international peace, security and order, it is the greatest threat to all of them.
The complete disregard for international laws and rules vindicates our longstanding call for the total overhaul of the multilateral institutions. However, the reform of the international multilateral institutions promises no serious shift under the same global mode of production. This calls for workers to continue their fight for socialism, as the more than 100 years of capitalist multilateral institutions have failed dismally.
