SAFTU CONDEMNS ISRAEL AND USA
The recent demolition of Palestinian homes and the disturbing discovery of a third mass grave proves beyond doubt that Israel is engaged in the genocidal ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people. The South African Federation of Trade Unions (SAFTU) condemns these atrocities that continue unabated despite condemnation by the international community.
SAFTU condemns the United States of America (USA) for funding the mass killing of Palestinians and the ethnic cleansing project of the Israeli Zionist racists. In the same breadth, we salute the mass protests of young people in the US who are standing up against their government sponsoring this genocide.
Reports emerged detailing the demolition of Palestinian homes in Negev, which left countless families displaced and without shelter. These acts of demolition not only violate international law but also represent a callous disregard for the basic human rights of Palestinians, including their right to shelter and security.
The systematic destruction of Palestinian homes and the desecration of burial sites are not only violations of international law but also indicate a broader pattern of oppression, dispossession, and ethnic cleansing. Such actions fuel cycles of violence and deepen the suffering of innocent civilians. In a terroristic style, the new attacks not only treat Palestinians as though they are sub-humans, but has also focused on destroying infrastructure, communications, pipelines, and buildings in Gaza.
The recent ban of the media company (Al Jazeera) may be a preparation for further killings of Palestinians on a mass scale – now without media to broadcast such crimes. It is the mass graves that Al Jazeera continues to broadcast/expose to us in the furthest corners of the planet earth, that Israel wants to conceal by banning Al Jazeera.
We cannot ignore the reality that Palestinians continue to endure disproportionate hardships and discrimination. Israel’s policies have moved from merely displacing and marginalizing the Palestinian people, to blatantly killing and brutalizing Palestinians as a form of ethnic cleansing.
SAFTU stands in solidarity with the Palestinian people and calls on the international community to not only condemn these atrocities but must concretely boycott and isolate Israel. We urge all parties involved to campaign for their governments to sanction Israel and engage in the most aggressive consumer boycotts of goods produced by Israeli capital.
