FESTIVE GREETINGS FROM THE 2ND DEPUTY PRESIDENT AND ACTING PRESIDENT OF SAFTU.

Comrades,
On behalf of the leadership of the South African Federation of Trade Unions (SAFTU), I convey revolutionary and heartfelt festive greetings to all our affiliates, leaders, shop stewards, members, their families, and the broader working-class community.

The festive season provides us with an important moment to pause, reflect, and draw strength from our collective struggles, sacrifices, and victories. In a year marked by deepening poverty, mass unemployment, austerity, and relentless attacks on workers’ rights, SAFTU has stood firm as a militant, independent, and uncompromising voice of the working class.

We take pride in the principled campaigns we have waged together, including our powerful May Day mobilisation and our unwavering call to scrap regressive labour law amendments that seek to undermine job security, collective bargaining, and hard-won worker protections. These struggles reaffirm a fundamental truth: when workers are organised, conscious, and united, no attack on our rights can go unchallenged.

As we enter the New Year, we do so with clarity and determination. The coming period will be decisive as we prepare for SAFTU’s National Congress, a critical moment to consolidate our gains, sharpen our political direction, and strengthen the federation as a fighting instrument of the working class. Let us use this festive period to rest, refresh, and return reinvigorated, ready to organise, mobilise, and intensify the struggle.

The year ahead demands renewed commitment to defending workers’ rights, deepening working-class unity, and advancing the fight against exploitation, inequality, corruption, and unemployment. We must continue to build a powerful, socialist-oriented workers’ movement capable of leading real social and economic transformation.

I wish all our members and their families a peaceful Christmas and a New Year filled with health, dignity, courage, and renewed revolutionary energy.

Forward ever in unity and struggle.
Aluta Continua!
