The South African Federation of Trade Unions (SAFTU) calls on all media houses to attend and cover a picket by Mafoko Security Services workers, who have yet to receive their December 2025 wages.

Hundreds of Mafoko workers, many of whom are contracted to government and public institutions, have gone without pay for weeks, leaving them and their families in desperate conditions. This latest wage crisis is not the first involving Mafoko, a serial offender that has repeatedly failed to pay workers on time and to remit deductions to provident fund administrators.
SAFTU condemns this ongoing exploitation and the state’s complicity in outsourcing essential services to companies that abuse workers with impunity. The Federation demands that all affected workers be paid immediately, that Mafoko’s contract be terminated, and that security workers be insourced into direct public employment to end this cycle of exploitation.
SAFTU General Secretary, Zwelinzima Vavi, will join the picket in solidarity with the workers and to amplify the call for justice and insourcing across all government institutions.
